New SAMDev consultation announced

But it does not affect the Hodnet area.

On Monday 1st July Shropshire Council announced the next phase of consultation on the Site Allocations and Management of Development (SAMDev) Plan. The previous week the Council’s Cabinet approved the ‘Revised Preferred Options’ put to them by the Planning Department. As previously announced (see here) these revised proposals for future building developments across the county are now being put to the public for their comments.
The consultation which runs for 8 weeks closing on the 23 August 2013 was announced on the Council’s website here. It is important to note that the announcement states:

This consultation focuses only on changes to the settlement strategies and preferred options for new development published last year.

In total there are eighteen ‘Place Plan’ areas in Shropshire and each one of these has its own SAMDev consultation document. Hodnet is in the Market Drayton area and its dedicated web page is here. Four of the files listed on that page are relevant to Hodnet. These are:

  1. Market Drayton area revised preferred options July 2013
  2. Market Drayton SAMDev Plan Consultation Responses
  3. Site Assessment Technical Report Hodnet
  4. Market Drayton SAMDev Preferred Options

The Revised Preferred Options contain no changes to the previous proposals for Hodnet and therefore the questionnaire does not contain a section relevant to the area.
The relevant pages and sections in the above documents are as follows:

  1. Preferred Options – pages 9 & 10
  2. Consultation Responses – questions 24 to 30
  3. Technical Report – whole document
  4. Preferred Options – pages 13 & 14

These proposals do not remove the need for developers to consult with local residents in relation to any particular site. They do however indicate how Shropshire Council hopes to fulfil its own targets for new housing in the future.

Do you walk along the old railway line?

If so you are not alone, plenty seem to and especially dog walkers.
You may have noticed the walking was getting harder recently, as vegetation grew over parts of the path, and may also have wondered who cut it back last weekend?
Well, the answer is not ‘the Council’, but a couple of community minded local volunteers. Yes the Big Society does exist !
Maybe you’d like it done more often? perhaps you’d even like  it done better! If so, this is your chance to contribute, don’t leave it to others.
All it takes is an hour or two here and there to really make a difference. You’re never too young to start and rarely to old to stop!!
Contact the Hodnet Footpath Group if you’d like to learn more/offer occasional help.
