Police are seeking witnesses to a road collision at Tern Hill roundabout involving a motorcycle and a vehicle which failed to stop. The appeal was published here on their website earlier this week.
The collision happened at around 8.10am, Sunday 24th Nov. on the roundabout at the junction of the A53 and A41. The red Kawasaki motorcycle was on the roundabout when a white car derived van approached from the A53 Market Drayton direction. Following the collision, the van driver failed to stop.
The motorcyclist was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with minor injuries following the collision. He had wrist, ankle and rib injuries.
Police Constable Teresa Horne, the investigating officer, said : “Anyone who witnessed the incident should contact Market Drayton or Shrewsbury police stations by calling 101. The incident reference number is 0145-s-241113.”

Hodnet School are holding their Christmas Fayre on Friday 29th November 5pm – 7pm.
We invite everyone in the village to come and buy their Christmas gifts from the stall holders, have a turkey bap and listen to the children sing their carols.
There will be stalls by Phoenix Cards, Butterfly Daisy, A stitch of Hope, Momma Bears Locker and many others.
All the money raised by Friends of Hodnet School is used to fund trips, buy equipment etc. for the children.

At the recent Local Joint Committee meeting it became clear that there remained a threat to the future of Hodnet Fire Station. Parish Cllr. Chris Mackie, who was at the meeting is concerned that local residents are unaware that there is still a real possibility that the station may be closed in the next round of money-saving cuts. He says,
Please help save this vital Hodnet resource. You can find out more about the situation and the various things you can do to help on this page of the village website.
However, one simple thing you can do right now is to complete the Shropshire Council survey which is being used by the Council to inform their decision. If there are several people living at your house, get each person to complete it.”
The survey Chris mentioned is being carried out by Shropshire Council and is available on their website. The above link takes you to the About tab which outlines the reason for reviewing future provisions. The main one is ‘delivering more for less’ which is an expectation for all public sector services.
The Options tab lists the headline options for the future of the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service. These are:
Hodnet is considered a ‘Low Risk’ station – meaning it is a high risk of closure because it could be argued that there are other stations nearby. However, it is a vital resource to the community which surrounds it. You will find it helpful to read all three options. Once you have done so, the survey can be completed by clicking on the large green button found on this tab or the Comment on options one. The whole survey (all three sections) takes around 10 minutes to complete and it will be time well spent.
The Council does not say whether it is possible for those without internet access to complete the survey, but if you know local residents who would like to receive a paper copy, we suggest that you use the form on the Contact us tab to ask for one to be sent to them.
The closing date for the survey is 31st December 2013, but we ask you not to leave it until then. Remember, everyone can complete it. Responses are not limited to just one per household. In a letter dated 5th November 2013, which was sent out to neighbours, Shropshire Council have announced that the Appeal Hearing for the original Planning Application for 50 dwellings on land off Station Road has been cancelled. In an earlier post we reported that the hearing had been fixed for Wed. 13th Nov. The Council gave no reason for the cancellation, but did say that they would contact residents again to let them know when a revised date has been agreed.
West Mercia Police are seeking information on the theft of a BMW car from a house off Shrewsbury Street between 1.45pm and 3.45pm on Thursday 7th November.
In a post on their website the force describe the vehicle as silver/blue BMW M5, registration number, M5UAB, was taken from the driveway and driven out of Hodnet towards the A53. The thieves also caused more than £800 damage breaking into the garage from which they gained access into the house.
PC Teresa Horne, the investigating officer, appealed for witnesses who saw suspicious activity in the area or who spotted the BMW being driven off, to contact Market Drayton police station on 101. Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
