Horsebox overturns into field

Horsebox in field 1Around 1.00pm today, Monday 29 May 2017, a horsebox being towed towards Wellington on the A442 in Peplow, came unhooked from the vehicle towing it and overturned into a field. The trailer did not contain any animals, but at the time was being used to transport equipment. Thankfully, the box did not collied with any other vehicle and no-one was injured in the incident, though the driver who had been towing it was very shaken by the incident.
According to the driver of the car behind the horsebox, the trailer began sway after it ran over a pothole in the carriageway. It continued to sway until it broke away from the towing vehicle it, before overturning into a field on the right of the road about 500 yds. beyond the pothole.
The driver contacted the farmer who owns the field and he graciously undertook the recovery of it to the nearest gate. A section of the boundary fence to the field was damaged by the horsebox.

Sunday walks and social event in Marchamley

Marchamley Bluebells and TreeOn Sunday 4th June we have arranged a couple of guided walks in Marchamley – one taking less than an hour and the other somewhat longer. Local landowners have given permission for the walks giving a chance to explore places normally closed to the public. The route includes many historical features which were highlighted in the Marchamley Mysteries photographic exhibition last year. We have produced a historical leaflet to accompany the route.
The event revolves around Marchamley club where there will be some craft and Lego activities available during the afternoon for younger children. Also there will be sandwiches, cakes, tea, coffee and alcoholic beverages for sale all afternoon when we hope many will join us for an enjoyable social event.
The first walk starts at Marchamley Club at 2:30pm. The second walk will start from the bus shelter at 3:15pm. More details are available on this handout – MarchamleyWalks170604
In the event of adverse weather conditions the walks may be curtailed but the social gathering will still take place in the club.
