Wollerton Building Conversion Wins Award

The Granary Wollerton

The Granary WollertonThis week the Shropshire Newsroom reported on the Shropshire and Staffordshire regional LABC (Local Authority Building Control) Building Excellence Awards. The event was held at the Garrick Theatre in Lichfield.
A home in Wollerton came out at the top of the Best Change of Use of an Existing Building or Conversion category. The Granary, Woodlands Farm, Wood Lane gained the accolade in this classification. The winning project team consisted of BSP Construction Ltd., Base Architecture and Shropshire Building Control.
Michael & Jenny Morgan, who now live in The Granary, did not know that their new home was in the running for the award until after the event. Having recently moved across the farm yard, they are still busy putting the finishing touches to their house and garden.
The Local Authority Building Excellence Awards are the “Oscars” of the British construction industry and aim to recognise builders and their agents who have completed a building project to a high standard of construction in the past twelve months. All schemes taking part in the event were initially nominated by their Shropshire building control surveyor.
The winners of the Shropshire & Staffordshire event will now be entered into the West Midlands Awards to be held in September 2015. Should The Granary be successful there, it will then go through to the national finals in London later this year.
