Hodnet Housing Development – Appeal Withdrawn

Early today (31 Jan 2014) Shropshire Council’s Planning Department posted on the planning portal a copy of a letter they have received from The Planning Inspectorate. Dated 28 Jan, the letter informed the Council that:

The hearing arranged for 5 February 2014 has been cancelled because the appellant has withdrawn the appeal.

Margaret Jarvis

Margaret Elizabeth Jarvis, formerly of Wollerton Bank, Wollerton, and latterly of Swan Hill Residential home, Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully on 31st December 2013, aged 96years, after a short illness.

Car hits tree on A442

The Shropshire Star and Market Drayton Advertiser both report that the A442 was briefly closed yesterday (Jan. 2, 2014) after car hit a tree.

Christmas tree ‘amnesty’ announced

Shropshire Newsroom has announced that a Christmas tree ‘amnesty’ is being operated over the next few weeks – see here. Working with their waste contractor Veolia, Shropshire Council are allowing residents to put out real Christmas trees along with their garden waste for collection and recycling. The trees will be turned into compost for use by local farmers and gardeners.
