Peplow's New Community Centre Moving Forward

Peplow Chapel South WallsTwenty people were at a meeting on Thursday 5th February in Peplow Chapel to explore the possibility of using it as a community centre in the future. Messages of support by both letter and email have been received from people unable to attend the meeting.  Dave Jackson who lives in the nearby Hall Cottages chaired the meeting. He outlined how the proposals had come about and went through a list of suggested activities he had already received from people.
Following a short discussion, it was unanimously agreed to move ahead with plans to use the chapel as a community centre as well as a place of worship. A good number of those present were members of the congregation from the chapel and they were enthusiastic about seeing its use increased. A small committee is being formed to progress the project.
A band has been booked for Saturday 18th April 2015 playing the sounds of the fifties and sixties. A light meal will be provided and those attending are welcome to bring their own alcoholic drinks. So please make a note of this in your diary and help to make it a big success. Admission will be by pre-purchased ticket and details of price and where to obtain them will be available shortly.
Regular coffee mornings, a book club, a small library and a sewing circle for both beginners and the more experienced is being arranged. Offers have been received to provide a cookery demonstration together with suggestions for table decoration. There is also interest in forming a keep fit and slimming club. If other local residents have suggestions for other activities or books to donate to the library, the committee would like to hear from you.
Anyone who lives in Peplow or close by is most welcome to join in the activities. It is hoped that as the project progresses other people will come forward and get involved.
