Car turns over on A442

CautionSignThe A442 in Peplow was closed this morning (20 May 3015) for around two hours after a car ended up on its roof.
The incident occurred about 10:30am bringing traffic to a standstill. According to BBC Radio Shropshire the woman driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, did not suffer any major injuries. It is not known in which direction the car was travelling when the incident occurred.
Local residents reported that several fire appliances attended the scene along with the Air Ambulance. This is confirmed by reports in the Shropshire Star, on the Fire Service website and Market Drayton Police Twitter feed. The Hodnet Fire crew were supported by appliances from Market Drayton and Wellington.
The accident happened about one-third of a mile south of Peplow crossroads, just north of Shuker’s Lane in the middle of a series of slight bends (map). “Caution diesel spillage” signs have been placed on the approaches to the location. This reporter comments that the residue seems to be quite thick and encourages drivers to take extra care in this area over the next few days, especially when the road surface is wet.
