22 Weeks of Roadworks in Wollerton

Wollerton Road Closure Map Oct 2018 to March 2019

Starting on Monday 29th October 2018 Severn Trent Water [STW] will commence the first of two phases of work to replace the water main on Mill Road and Drayton Road in Wollerton. The two phases are planned to take 13 weeks for the first and 9 weeks for the second. At times sections of both roads will be completely closed, If the work is not delayed there will also be four-way temporary traffic lights at the Wood Lane/Mill Road junction for 2 weeks from 7 January 2019.
Wollerton Road Closure Map Oct 2018 to March 2019Information about both phases of the work can be found on the STW website and also on Roadworks.org from which this annotated screen-shot is taken.
Updates will be posted on the STW website during the work for Phase One Mill Road, and Phase Two Lostford. The general description on both pages reads:
“We plan to start the water main renewals from 29 October 2018, starting by Wollerton Hall Gardens, working in sections towards Mill Road, then onto the main road in the direction of Lostford. We expect to complete the work by March 2019. This can change depending progress.”

Update 6 Nov. This morning the above statement was still on STW website, the webteam however have today been informed that by the time of the public meeting in early October, it had been decided to start the work in Phase One by the crossroads with Drayton Road and work towards the Old Hall. The few people who attended that event were apparently told that this was the case.

There is some confusion in the description of the location of the road closure in Phase One being used by STW, as they describe it as being between Mill Road Junction and Cotton Farm Junction. (For example see this entry on Roadworks.org.) Cotton Farm is located on the Stoke-on-Tern side of the A53 bypass even though it is in Hodnet. The junction near it is no longer connected directly to Mill Road in Wollerton. Before the construction of the bypass, Mill Road and Station Road did meet by the gates to Cotton Farm. It seems STW need to update their maps and associated data set for this area. The the section of Mill Road which will be closed on occasions during the first phase will be on the Wollerton side of the A53, and not the Stoke-on-Tern side.
