Wollerton Water Main Replacement – Road to be Closed, Buses to be Diverted

Wollerton Road Closure Map Oct 2018 to March 2019

Work on Phase 2 of the Wollerton water main replacement will start in earnest on Monday 7th January when a Road Closure Order comes into effect between Wollerton crossroads and Lostford. The order is expected to remain in place until Friday 8th March. Throughout this period drivers are reminded that whilst access to properties in this area will be maintained, travelling through the length of the works will not be possible for a significant proportion of the closure. Drivers should therefore use alternative routes until the road is fully opened after the work is completed.
One group of drivers who will be taking this advice are those who work for Arriva. For the duration of the closure the 64 bus route in both directions will be diverted along Mill Road. From Monday this will add extra time to the journey between Hodnet and Market Drayton, and may also delay the service in the direction of Shrewsbury. Besides Mill Road, the temporary route will include a section of the Hodnet bypass. The webteam have been informed by Arriva, that their drivers will be instructed to treat the part of Mill Road where there are dwellings (i.e. between the crossroads and Wollerton Old Hall) as Hail and Ride, this will enable passengers to board and to alight from buses at any safe location. Drivers using Mill Road should also be aware that they may encounter larger vehicles than they would normally expect.
The following update was provided to the webteam on Friday 4th Jan. by Samantha Pedley, Amey Customer Liaison Officer. Amey are the contractors carrying out the work for Severn Trent Water.

We have now set up four way traffic lights on the junction of Mill Road and Main Road, as we intend to start excavating on phase 2 from 07/01/19 in the direction of Lostford. Please be aware there will be access to properties only. Traffic will not be able to pass through at any time whilst we’re on site.
Work in the village is now complete with only a small excavation area next Wollerton Old Hall Gardens. The road closure was removed before Christmas and traffic can get through to the village by either end. Thank you for your patience and understanding during these works.
