Fly-Tipping Alert – January 2018

It has been a while since we highlighted the problems of fly-tipping – the last time was in 2014.
This weekend a local resident has sent us the following photographs of rubbish recently dumped over a gate close to the junction on the A53 bypass with section of Station Road leading to Stoke-on-Tern.

The rubbish appears to be a mixture of domestic and building waste.
The incident has been reported to Shropshire Council, but as the rubbish has been deposited on private land it may be the responsibility of the land owner to cover the cost of removing it.
If you know anything about this, or any other fly-tipping incidents, please contact West Mercia Police on 101, or Crime stoppers on 0800 111 555.
Keep Britain Tidy say:

Fly-tipping is a serious criminal offence for which you can be prosecuted. The courts have various powers available to them to tackle fly-tipping, including imprisonment, substantial fines of up to £50,000 orders to pay costs and an order to deprive rights to a vehicle used to commit the offence.
