Tree fall in Shrewsbury Street

Tree Fall in Shrewsbury Street (3rd June 2012)

The heavy rains of Diamond Jubilee Sunday, not only dampened celebrations across the nation, but they also brought down a tree partly blocking Shrewsbury Street in Hodnet.

The fall, which happened around lunchtime, occurred in the grounds of Hodnet Hall but the top of the tree fell across the wall blocking the footpath and part of the road. We understand that tree was removed within a couple of hours.

Had this had happened on another day than the Jubilee weekend, it would have very probably disrupted traffic through the village for some time.
